That is true because the air flow around the LECA pellets is so much better than that around the small Seramis particles. If you maintain good humidity in the growing area, LECA will stay moist all the way to the top, too.

Ah, that makes sense! I have no way of maintaining that kind of humidity, though.

I have Ray's 1-quart / 1-liter S/H containers, and am using a brand of LECA from a local hydroponics store. The surface of my LECA is dry within minutes of watering. The wet layer visible in the container is seldom more than a third of the way to the top. Yet, my plant's roots near the surface are moist, and they grow well.
