Default An open window ok to induce flowers?

Hello orchid board,

My phals have grown well this summer but this week the temps here in Paris have really dropped.

The temp of our home has cooled quite a bit (from 30 to low 20s C/80s to 70s F) due to the outside temps (we don't use heat/AC), but will this be enough to induce flowers?

If I leave the window open at night it will get pretty chilly, like 12°C/53°F. Otherwise the house will just gradually get cooler and cooler as winter sets in, bottoming out at around 16°C/60°F when it's really cold out.

Just confused because on the one hand I've read to keep the plants away from drafts but on the other hand it says they need a chill to set spike and I don't see the difference.

A hot or cold draft can cause bud / bloom drop. Being in front of an opened window should be fine. Usually by drafts, what is meant is like blowing from an a/c or heat vent. Plants in nature are exposed to breezes, and cooler temps at night.
