My first ever set of miniatures arrived today

So, I decided to experiment little bit with miniature orchids. They are extremely cute, and I had no idea how small they are till I got them today:-) I posted new thread about my Mini Vase Vivarium and also Wood Glass terrarium with the pics, but here are some more pics of all mini babies, some are staying outside at my balcony as well. So today I did adopt Haraella Retrocalla, Dendrobium Pequanum, Dendrobium Eriaeflorum, & Bulbophyllum Pardalotum. I am extremely happy and anxisous if they will do fine in my home, I hope so. More on the way

Nice haul. Watch out that the Bulbo does not overtake the Haraella. Ilove Harealla it can just keep on blooming. Your on your way to being a bonified nut

Bullbo is there till it will grow too big, than it will join all the outside bulbos:-) It came really small so it fits perfect now. I fall in love with Harealla 2 weeks ago when I was intoduced to it here on this boar, and than also Lepanthopsis astrophora, and porpax. Pretty much because of these 3 I did decide to go ahead and start to play with miniatures! they look stunning, let's hope I can keep them alive:-)

well, as I understand it, some should still grow more, like dendrobiums and bulbophyllum, but still staying within miniature category, not sure how big harealla gets:-)

The pardolatum does have small pbulbs and small blooms but it is a rapid grower and will eat the other 'chids.

I mounted mine on a tree fern ball and it almost encircled the sphere before it got big enough to bloom. The spikes are very thin and arch away from the plant, hanging down. The blooms remind me of a Masdevallia shape, open at night and close during the day. It is grown in Catt light.

awesome Brook, I can't wait for that one grow. Once it is too big for this vase, I will mount it on tree fern half moon shape piece I have and put outside to grow, I love orchids growing so rapidly, makes it even more fun!

Yes, they are really so small, meaning, I knew, but till I receive my first shipment and open the box, It did not hit me how small they will be. Extremely cute. I hope that all of them ill do good in this set up.

Tommy my post was my attempt at being polite and trying to tell you your set up for the pardolatum is not going to let it thrive.

Removing it from the mount will be very hard on it and the best thing for the plant is to mount it now, put it outside in Catt light, water it daily and let it grow big enough to bloom. If it did bloom mounted on the bottom of the stick, you wouldn't be able to see the blooms.

It is a fast grower but it took it at least two years, maybe three, before it was big enough to bloom. Many Bulbos need to be massive before they spit out their first blooms.

Brook, next time don't even be polite, I need hammer on the head:-) I hear you, I started to think about it when I read cattleya light, which is kinda strange, cause my other bulbos outside are pretty much in partial shade and they do great and bloom. SO this one I guess needs little bit different conditions (I must say, another bummer regarding research online where it says of course LOW LIGHT) I do love this bulbo, cause exactly as you say it looks more like masdevallia or even dracula, which I love but have of course hard time to grow here in Florida! I am getting more plants next week, so I will have to mount again, I will than change it and mount it on the tree fern and place outside to good light as you suggested. I really want this one to bloom and grow fast:-)

Brook, I have also Bulbo Rosary Beads, Ambrosia aand Macranthum on the way. Maybe you can advise on these? I want definitely Rosary Beads on the bottom of that vivarium, I read and saw it does great in low light and on thee top of sphagnum moss also, humid, so I would switch position of pardolatum for rosary beads. And regarding Macranthum - again, googled be4 buying, says low light, hot growing, and Ambrosia should be the same???
I do have so far Bulbo Shirley, Medusae, Rufinum, Sheryl Kurizaki, all growing like crazy outside, half shade, keeping them moist at all times, blooming every year.
