Default Ice cube orchid in bloom and repotted

Went to the store and saw about 7 Phals., one had 2 spikes. I wondered why nobody bought it. I took a closer look and saw that the "top dressing" was mold. Well, it came home with me and I repotted as soon as I got through the door. The bark mix was sopping wet and badly decomposed, no dreaded lump of moss in the middle. Some dead roots, some still good. I cleaned it up and put it in fresh bark. It didn't miss a beat and 2 buds have opened since. It's the only blooming thing in the house just now and I do enjoy it. Although I think my Paph. wardii is spiking. Will post a picture tomorrow and let you all decide if yes or no.

Nice save. Reads like an installment in the adventures of Carpe Phalaenopsis. Complete with cliffhanger ending!

meanwhile, back at the greenhouse....

I have the same Just add ice orchid but I got it in perfect condition from a florist in my neighbourhood (does it have a name?)

You've done a great job with it! I wish I could rescue all ill-treated orchids from stores and people and from the "Just add ice" gimmick!

Beautiful! Looking forward to seeing your Paph. wardii. I've discovered the names of 2 of my noid phals! It took the help of many forum members and countless hours searching, comparing pictures, and emailing.

My NoID Phal. is doing well, no changes other than 2 more buds opening. So far I always had luck with repotting blooming Phals.
Orchid Boy, I've posted two pictures of Paph. wardii in the Beginners Forum. The pictures are bad, I never could take a decent picture.
