tea cup orchid roots..

I put it in a much smaller pot. I have it in best gro phal mix. I have also had this phal for going on 6+ months. I repotted it immediately I think I just had it in a bad potting mix.

There's another thing I haven't read about yet as well...

That's proper air circulation to the roots.

Phals grow on trees in the wild. The roots are exposed to quite a bit of humid air in nature.

That "tea cup" probably did not have any kind of drainage whatsoever. The pot needs drainage. In terms of Phals, the more drain holes the pot has the better.

The roots are rotting because of the water staying on the potting medium for too long and becoming stale from very little air movement in the "tea cup". Add on to the fact that your home conditions are probably around the mid 70' F, which is cool for this orchid during this time of year, (but still within its acceptable temperature range). These are perfect conditions for killing roots and causing the microorganisms that further the condition to boom.

Give it time in the better mix with a better watering routine and a little fertilizer on a regular basis and it should be OK.

During the day in my room where I keep them gets closer to 80-90 degrees. I turn my a/c off during the day when i'm not here and it gets down to around 68 at night. I followed Syspilla's advice and soaked them very well. The leaves on my tea cup orchid are already starting to perk back up. My other phals are showing signs of perking up today also. Thanks again for all the great advice
