Wow nice work Jeremy! Who has them for $10 if you don't mind? I need to replace the one I killed experimenting with s/h.

The flower market had some, but I don't know if they do now. It was a while ago that I got them - just never said anything about it because I haven't -done- anything with them yet! I think I bought about half of what was left last time I looked. But give it a try!
How did you kill yours - i.e. what do you think went 'wrong' in your experiment?

Bad timing I'm guessing. I got it at the orchids in golden gate park show in sept 2012. It wasn't growing new roots when I transplanted and it was downhill from there. I also probably got lazy with watering. I was hoping the s/h method would save me time, so the media on top regularly got dry and salty looking. I got a seedling mat toward the end of the experiment and it did help with the dry line problem.
I wanted to be successful with s/h, so many here on OB have had great results and the phrag besseae seemed like the perfect candidate. I'll have to try again some time.

I will write more here in a bit about what I did and did not do in this case - and what I'm doing with my other s/h. One of the things was a really really long soak in KLN. And yes lots of water...
I got these other plants about two weeks after the show, so I guess the start of October. OZ released a whole mass of them right around then, these are the same as the "$25" ones at the show. Just at wholesale cost. If I see more around somewhere I will try to message you.

Yes indeed what a great rescue. Pictures of course when it blooms. And what a great bargain you found wish I could find something around here like that but know I never will.
That's one of the NOT perks living where there are not allot of people.
