Hoping for some help.(if this is the correct forum).
First the tag: all it says is 500-23/11. Den. SBurana Emerald. Any idea what that might mean or of it needs specific attention! In the meantime, I'll post a picture of the Orchid so you can see what beautiful plant I get so much joy from!
Any idea what that might mean of of if it needs particular special treatment. if helps any, my orchids get filtered morning light as well as brief Afternoon light what that might mean or of it needs specificc attention! In the meantime, I'll post a picture of air and evening light outside. Inside in the "orchid station",
They are all regularly misted and Placed around a small fan to mimic the natural breeze and rain-humidity in their natural envirinment.

There are quite a few Dendrobium experts on the board, so I hope they chime in. You have a very generous friend, giving you this beautiful plant--I can barely get any of my friends to buy me a cup of coffee, much less an orchid!

Veeery nice gift!
It looks like a Dendrobium bigibbum hybrid, and as far as I know it likes warmth as Phals do, it could (or would like to) take more light, and needs much less watering in the winter or at least until the new growth is taller than 10 cm (4 inches) roughly

I'm not sure what the extra S means in your name. But Den Burana Emerald is a registered Dendrobium. However the pictures of it I see online are not the same colour as yours. Not sure if that is a variation or a sign that yours is not the same thing.

It looks like a Dendrobium of the Phalnthe type (often known as Den Phals, but not to be confused with the genus Phalaenopsis also abbreviated Phal).

These types can be grown fairly similarly to the Genus Phalaenopsis. Standard temps in the house, keep moist but not wet (they can be alowed to dry slightly between watering to help ensure you don't over water, but can often take just a fraction more than phals). They can often take more light than phals, however light should be increased slowly to ensure they don't burn.

Sometimes these need more light to get them flowering. I moved mine into more light in the summer, then left them in the same place over the winter as well. I think that might have been a mistake thought I'm still wondering on that. I think they were doing well when in the same light as the Phals over the winter, then being slowly moved to higher light for the summer, then back again in the winter.

Thank you all so much for your replies.
I'll keep everything in mind and hope more
People chime in. I'm still learning about orchids...current have ten or so; cats, dens, phals
Etc. I've been criticized for jumping in head first into so many types without being properly learned on each type but I have to say (knock on wood) all are flourishing and two are actually in their six month of flowering. My friend said his, at most, went two months on a rare occasion. And the new off shoots (not sure of the word...baby orchids growing in maybe?) are coming in at alarming rates and maturing fast. I'm chalking it up to good luck at the moment! Lol

Thanks again guys!

Rosie was right on with her advice. I think a lot of those dens are seed grown. Last spring I bought 2 of them with the same name but one was purple and the other was a muted red. They are nice tho and bloom for a lonnngggg time......Jean
