So yours is a small pot which is light whether the mix is wet or not, but at least it is clear pot so you can easily monitor the moisture level I think.
those cats... lol
I want to have a parrot, but they will also knock stuff off, plus very noisy.

I love my cats, they are like my kids..I had them before I had my fiance OR my orchids, so...but yeah, they're such pains in my rear!! Yesterday I opened the windows and there is lace in front of two of them. The one in my living room has my phals and the oncid in the sill and my cat actually went BEHIND the lace and when he saw a squirrel, he jumped really fast and kind of tilted the one phal pot forward - not far enough to knock it - but it was def off balance. I gasped really loud and he saw me and backed off, hahahaha. I got up and moved the pot to the other side of the window immediately.

Tell me about it..T_T This morning I came out to the kitchen to find one of my mini phals in the kitchen window knocked over.
The kitchen window is off the ground, above the countertops. The cats have to jump on the counter and then from the counter into the window.
I think I am just going to mount all of my phals and hang them from the curtain rods. I get my plants, the cats get their window sills.

[QUOTE=james mickelso;592958]Nanuca, if you want to try a little experiment here's something you could try. Water like mentioned here. Really soak the plant above the exposed roots. Every day. But....and this is important....make sure there is lots of airflow. A fan or something to really move the air around the plant. That may plump up those leaves.
Thanks a lot James! As situation seems more serious than I previously thought, I might give it a try. I already gave it a good 15 minute soak about an hour ago and opened a few windows so the air can move around.

So, I got home and inspected everyone. Watered my phals...and when I got to the Beallara, I pulled out the skewer and it was nice and wet. I stuck my finger down into he pot and it was moist. It looks like there is some condensation inside of the pot.
Should I soak it anyway, or just leave it be? I decided to leave it be until someone says otherwise, lol. Also do these guys like to be misted? I moved it into the room with my cattleyas in it yesterday because I was thinking that maybe where the phals are just isn't enough light for it. I mist my cattleyas (which, btw, are the only orchids in the house that are totally in love with me and growing like maniacs) when I come home every day and turn on a little desk fan to circulate air. I misted the beallara just bc it was there but I won't do it in the future if it doesn't like it.

Thanks, I will wait.
In other news, look! They're ACTUALLY cooperating...for now. (I just had to post this because my cats are usually such jerks, lol!)

The black one is MADE of mischief. I can't even begin to describe it...he is appropriately named Lestat.
The grey one is afraid of his own shadow, so...xD
