got 2 new orchids

A lowes bag baby-(sadly I found out my lowes only carries cattleyas & phalaenopsis orchids) & a discounted Paph from my local garden center.
I'm finding the Paph names confusing, this one was very small.-

Paph ANG-Thong var ALBA "In charm x Niveum var 'Pathana' FCC/HOS x Paph Niveum 'IN charm' bm/TPS

and the lowes baby is
'LV62 Pot Dick Smith 'Paradise' Splash Petal 12/27/11
not sure why it had a date...

Keep checking back at Lowe's--their bag baby inventory is quite variable. I've found B. Little Stars, asst cattley hybrids, a Beallara (sp?? it's an onc. hybrid of some sort), Den. nobile, and Epidendrums at the Lowe's in the central Ohio area.

I don't know if your Paph. was in bloom when you bought it, but I just posted pictures of the same cross in "Orchids in Bloom". The title was "Paph. Grayi x niveum new acquisition" if you're interested. I shortened the title to fit the title block but it's the same cross as yours.

nice acquisitions! the date on dick smith is probably the date it was de-flasked, or potted up from the flask....its 'birthday'....good luck with them!

If your paph has niveum in it, it should be rather small and cute. Remember they love lime and hate acidic potting mix...

I think the date on the tag is the date the hybrid was registered.
