Default All Numbered now!

Well there's nothing like the feeling of being organised is there? Job well done feeling!

I've now listed all my Orchids and given them a number. I have noted their outstanding attributes whether they be a great root system, new roots and spikes coming, flowering taking place or just a great leaf display. I have dated each with their number and then photographed each.

My plan is to create 6 monthly update photographs of their before, after and ongoing progress of my plants as I use and maintain them using the Orchid Pots they are in.

With all the help, hints and tips and knowledge in this Forum I should have a shatteringly beautiful display as we go forward and the flowering season next time should be phenomenal.

Thank you to everyone in this Forum. Whether I have commented, liked your post or not, you can bet you have had an influence on me and I appreciate all of your help.

Lorna

I try the six monthly update photos for mine as well for ongoing progress, but I am a couple of years behind on most of them It started well with just 20, but now with over 90 I can't keep up.

I do have them all listed and numbered though and try and keep records of when each one blooms and when each one starts new growth etc. It does help sometimes when I look back and see that one started declining at a certain point, or started doing better at a certain point.

Thank you Sausage. I admire the dedication of everyone in this Forum. It really is eye-opening.

I will never get to 90 Orchids. I really can't justify adding another single Orchid to my collection as I am a One-Window flat and there's already 25 of them all clamouring for the light as it is. I just cannot have any more.

Oh unless I put a pole up and have a couple of hanging ones.

Now there's a brilliant idea. (Not mine tho). I got it from the Ace photo from Anon_Y_Mouse yesterday. Fab Pic Hun.

LOL, I thought I would never get that high either. But then I seem to have stabilised about that point and had about the same number for a few years now.

Every windowledge, the mantlepiece and base of the fireplace, an extra couple of shelves in the living room... then a few years ago I got a greenhouse in an unused corner of the garden which I'm currently building new shelves for

I have always wanted folks here to put up pics of their greenhouses and living rooms/basements with lights or anywhere else they have orchids growing. Love to see pics of others orchids. What kind of spaces they grow in and lighting. Please post here so we can see. I'll go first. How bout that. Just my little valhala. And the palm tree where one of my epis live year round. Takes a beating in winter. Also a couple of epis on the ground next to the palm. So there is my GH of sorts so let's see where your pleasures reside. One baby or 100. Come on now don't be bashful.

OMG I love that arrangement. That is so cute and compact. You are really in control of all of them there. I have no outdoor space as I live in a communal building and there aren't any gardens.

You are also lucky not to be confined to indoor living for them all. I think I might come back as an Orchid you know. They all get soooo well looked after and pampered.

Beautiful Pics.

Default My World

I did post this pic in another thread, so forgive me if a second posting is not allowed. I'm not sure of the rules there.

I have all of my Orchids in the one window Mister James.

You are very lucky to be able to work outdoors year round.

Nice set up Miss Lorna. Is that a west or south window? The orchids seem to love the light. Nice colors and the flowers are all nicely grown. I am lucky to have found this nice place at the beach. My landlady loves to come in and "snoop" about. Once in awhile I lose an orchid to her. She lives way up in the mountains at elevation and when she comes down here for a spell she steals one that is blooming. Love her much. Thanks for showing your set up Lorna. Love to see how others grow their pride and joy. I may someday have no yard so I love to see how others cope without one. Gives me lots of ideas.

Thank you Young Man.

Two people's I would urge you to take a look at are TOMMYMIAMI and AnonYMouse. I'm sure they'll be along soon but I have been impressed by both.

Oh and I think my window is NW.

The compass points to the North at about 3 if it were a clock. My window is where the 12 o'clock place says NW.

Hopefully that makes sense?
