That's funny because my mistake was underwatering. The bark is fairly new and was drying out way too fast for me to keep up with because of my summer course. I lost a bunch of roots and the plant started dropping leaves and then burned from the heat and sun...>.< I really, really killed that one.

at least we did learn from our mistakes. I am still in the process of writing down into my new diary special care needs for each and every one of my orchids, I did think I have only 18 species but it seems it is actually 21 different orchid families, I forgot about Phalaenopses, and also my Paphiopedilum:-) So now it is 57 pieces, and if I count it right 21 different genuses:-)

Lol, I only have 9 plants total, two of which are big phals, 3 minis, one oncidium intergeneric, and three cattleya hybrids. <_< I have killed a few phals...but that won't stop me because I want to go buy a couple more! Specifically I want a yellow one. *maniacal laugh*

I finally finished my orchid list here in my account, descriptions and pictures for each one, wow, took some time, I am not quite sure if people can see them though, still learning to navigate here:-) But it is done and it is also for me to have my list somewhere online just in case I would loose my diary with notes and names:-) Well, I started years ago, first with phals, regular stuff from home depot and sellers around the street, than oncidiums, than some dendrobiums, it is only 3 years ago when I started to really search for specific orchids and buy them online and on auctions, and here we are my balcony is now one big orchid display, year around, and I love it, can't have enough of it. Even I did purchase close to 20 new plants in last 2 weeks, I'm still driving to St. Pets next week to get my clamshell orchid and I'm pretty sure there will be couple more, even they are not on my list right now:-) GOOD LUCK to you and hope your collection will grow like mine:-)

I seriously HAVE TO STOP, weekends are the worst, just went to ebay again and even i did swear I will not buy more, i have already purchased 2 new Dendrobiums, huge Dendrobium Heterocarpum, plant has like 50" and probably 6-8 growths, wow, and than small Dendrobium Unicum, that orange color of them was just too much to resist. I read they like hot weather but need colder winter, so I hope Florida will work for them, also less light than others:-) God, I must really stop:-)))

At least you can do that, lol! I was looking at Orchids by Hausermann last night and found a few I really REALLY want and my fiance just said, "You should learn how to make the ones you have grow first before you buy more, they keep dying, dear." T_T;;

Thanks Girls
well, no parental control, but even though I was watching couple more again since Friday, I did tell my seller to send me invoice for only these 2 Dendrobiums, and I am done. I have made that filtered sun corner today with shade cloth, and reorganize again and I am pretty much MAXED up on the space, balcony can't take much more (for now anyway:-)))) So, the only other shopping will be next week in St. Pete's and I will try to control myself, although I'm going with my dear friend, orchid freak as well, having over 100 orchids at her backyard, however her HUSBAND will be with us, so I'm pretty sure he will keep us both on leash:-)))))) With keeping them all alive, let's see, I am really doing max this year, searched the web, wrote diary with page dedicated to every single one of them and the care info, but you never know. There is for example one cattleya I just received last week, she was at the same spot, but it was raining here in Miami for straight 7 days, and stupid me didn't move her away from the rain;-( I did re-pot her today, because within a week 3 leaves fall down and it was obvious today it is over watered. I am not quite sure if this could happen just within that week in my balcony, when I did take it out of the pot, roots were really bad, rotten a lot, but what can I do, I was not able yet to grow and bloom one cattleya successfully:-((( I hope re -potting will help and she was moved to that corner with filtered afternoon sun, will see, it is a strong plant with still some roots healthy, so I do pray this one will make it:-)
