what is on my phal ??
My favorite plant is a miniature phalaenopsis. I've had it outside in the shade and its been doing fantastic. I have treated it with a little rooting hormone powder and its been growing New roots and has two New leaves growing. Somethin green appeared to b growing from just above the bottom leaf. At first I thought it must be a root or maybe a spike. After about a week it began looking strange...there are three distinct green "nubs". One looks like it is filling the crease in between the leaf and growing stem. Is it a pest?? :-( Any insight would be helpful. I tried uploading a pic...hope it worked. Thanks!
Ps...I know its a blurry pic sorry :/ Aso the white stuff in the stem Is rooting powder.

It's a little hard to tell as this early stage. I suspect it is roots wince it has a rounded tip. Flower spikes typically look like little mittens when then start out.
Keep watching and see what develops.

Maybe I'm crazy (which is entirely possible) but, it looks like you have two roots starting, with a possible spike in-between? Anyone else see that? Just ignore my comment if no one else sees anything similar. Lol. I guess, other than guesses, we all just have to wait and see...

Looks healthy, it's a case of wait and see. But it is a GOOD thing.

You're not the only crazy because that's exactly what I see as well.

thank you everyone for your input! Island girl i thought the same thing...that the middle one may be a spike...it is growing so quickly and today i can make out a little pointy nub and the characteristic mitten shape in the middle nub! i am thrilled beyond measure as I have never succeeded in getting an orchid to rebloom before this one, and this is my favorite orchid. I will definitely keep you all posted. Does this mean she's a summer bloomer ?
