Default UPDATE: a keiki??

Originally i posted thinkin this growth was a new flower spike. However, after a couple weeks of growing it is beginning to look like a basal keiki...so Im a little disappointed. I've had a basal keiki before from a different plant that I was not able to keep alive.

They'll do that sometimes when conditions are not exactly to their liking.

Sorry for the dissapointment. Phals have their own mind it often appears.
However, I'm not sure what would be a reason for a basal keiki not to survive? As a general rule, it's recommended to let them be, not to separate from the mother plant. I actually had one recently and the mother died, while the keiki developed into a mature plant. I never separated them. They just did what they did.

Just a thought.
