Ha! Lowes must have just placed a big order for these or something. Today I just happened to stumble on a few that seemed like a good deal I couldn't pass up...I don't know enough to say if I saved a lot of money on them but seemed like it to me. I think they are all BS, maybe not the Vandas but yellow bird is actually in spike!

Mine was in a little 2 inch pot, was yours? I repotted it into a 4 inch pot, it was root bound, (roots were also dried out.)

I just got a howard's dream last week, lol. I would like a burana beauty, but I haven't come across one. O_O You're making me want to go back out and spend more money.

The Vanda are like 1/2" pots, honestly I don't think I have seen them that small before. The larger orchids are all in 3" pots I believe...I don't think they have had them in very long since they are in such good shape(for Big Box store orchids). I am going to repot them all this evening except the one in spike. Would've done sooner but school has kept me too busy with the summer semester.
They were well on their way to being poorly maintained though, I can tell that much by how dry they were and how some roots were a little shriveled. I think I got to them at the right time . I am interested to see how much it would have cost me to get these online from other sources. I try to shop small as much as I can but this seemed like a wonderful opportunity.
Does anyone happen to know if I am wrong about these orchids being BS? When I looked up the info from the growing company the text seemed to suggest they are?

I don't speak acronym real well unless it pertains to the federal govt (I'm an employee...they like their acronyms), other than bullshit, what do you mean by BS?

Ha ha, I know exactly what you mean if they would have had more variety I would've gotten them too. Can't wait to get these guys up and running with some fresh pots and fertilizer! I am going attempt to mount one of the Vanda and put the other two in hanging baskets. Recently saw some Cats in wood slate baskets that really looked good. Guess this is what they mean by the saying Christmas in July

I have actually been thinking about whether or not a wooden slatted basket would work for my beallara or my phals, just because right up on the window *may* be a little too hot for them but 6-10" back where I could hang them may be enough light but without the heat of the window sill and blinds reflecting back on them (we have thermal blinds that have white reflective backs and white paint on the window sill)...but I am too afraid lol! I still have to get everyone situated here first. O_O!

Sorry, should have been more specific. BS in regards to orchids is Blooming Size(You don't even want to know how long it took me to figure that out). Most of the time Orchids listed on eBay have that somewhere on the name or description. Sometimes you will see NBS (Near Blooming Size). The Fed seems to like a fair amount of bullshit along with their acronyms it seems( just kidding).

Oh no, you're totally not kidding, and you're absolutely right. But given that the government is pretty much the largest employer in the Washington metropolitan area, you take the BS and you take the money and you go with it, lol!
