Default Not Everything in the Garden is Rosy!

This Orchid has a damaged leaf. I have knocked it, it's split, has marks and scars on it and I think it looks healthy enough despite this, but where do you draw the line and amputate to avoid spreading something to adjacent plants?

How would I know if this could be dangerous? I suppose if it didn't look as healthy I should worry? Yes!

It has been this way unchanged for several months so I don't think there's anything sinister going on.? Am I right guys?

Hi Lorna, this plant looks healthy. The damaged leaf doesn't look so nice BUT, I would leave it and let the plant decide. I have a couple of plants with similar damage, at first I was going to trim them but decided against doing that because I did not want to introduce any opportunity for virus or bacteria to hit the open wound. The plant had already sealed the damage.

Thank you Mister Matt,

I appreciate your reply. I am always unsure of the virus and bacteria world as I don't always know the signs or how rampant a thing might be.

You have taken away the doubt and instilled confidence. I like that. I also liked the phrase you used "let the plant decide. "

Thank you Young Man.

Lorna

Looks fine to me, it's been based about but those scars don't look like anything got in them. I guess it's a bit like humans, a dry scab is good, a weeping sore is bad. With these a dry scab where the damaged happens is good, mushy is bad.

I leave them until the plant decides it no longer want's that leaf.
