Those pots are interesting! I have seen them on Repotme.com and was wondering what makes them so "special" I guess for lack of better wording? Yours certainly seem to LOVE them!

How do you manage when repotting if the roots get tangled in the little slots? I'd be afraid of ripping them =X

Default Not a Jail!

Hi there butterfly_muse, or may I call you Butterfly!

That is the beauty of these pots. The walls are completely open and so the plant is easily just lifted out.

Even if the roots have made their way out through the bars, there's no horizontals to restrict them. They always lift out cleanly.

Fab, Fab, FAB!

My concern would have been if the roots were fatter on both sides of the little bar thingies, but I can see how you may be able to just lift them out. Very cool! What makes those pots so happy for 'chids?

Ello, Ello, Ello again Butterfly,

I posted pics at the beginning of this thread, Can you go back a page and have a peep?

"With the pole construction of these Pots, they are flexible enough to allow the roots push through regardless of their gauge and thickness. They open like a pair of curtains."

They are also ideal as they were designed just for Orchids and they let the water out and the air in! They're quite fantastic.

You can get them in the USA from repotme.com

I may give them a try as my baby phals get older and grow big.

Still a little too pricey in the US. I googled to find a cheaper online price, but that ultimately leads to repotme selling them on Amazon at an even higher price: Price: $27.80
Note: $11.74 shipping when purchased from rePotme Orchid Supplies. Not eligible for Amazon Prime.

I remember a while back finding them at the manufacturer's German site for much, much less, but I don't think they provided shipping to the US.

Edited to add:

Orchitop® - DER Orchideen-Topf

They're 9.80 Euro for the pot, plus 1.99 Euro for the saucer and they also have quantity discounts on the pots.

11.79 Euro equals
15.37 US Dollar

They do ship worldwide: "For shipping in other countries please ask for a individual offer and tell us how many Orchitops you would like to order"

The shipping is actually what has prevented me from purchasing from repot me. I can't justify $12 shipping for like $2.00 in pots or something, lol!

Well the pots (saucer included) are 23.80, plus the shipping. I was thinking they might have come down to a more realistic price by now (like half that amount).
