The Poorly Failing one!
Here you go Mister Matt, just for you. I took more pics of the second Keiki.
I know the little sod looks green and really healthy, but as there aren't any signs of roots and the joining place is blackening I'm not so sure it will develop.
I will continue to look after it and sing to it, then it will be a bonus if it gets through. Watch this space as they say . . .

Hi Miss Rosie,
I applied the paste ages ago. I hadn't used it before and tried it on several spikes on several plants. This was the only one that took.
I have now chopped off all the spikes that weren't in flower to really tidy the table. I think that was mostly on your advice.
Again I am hoping for an incredible display next growing season.

Woa Mister M,
That is doing very well Sir.
They really have sprouted and are very healthy looking. They must like YOU. Keep up the good work.

O crap I have to worry about wasps eating my flowers too! I live in the land of dirt dobbers and red wasps not good...

Hi Lorna! I must say I totally agree with MattWoelfsen: the second keiki looks good and has good chances of surviving. If I were you, I would wipe off that paste at the base of the keiki in order to let the air get to it. I'm not sure it'll work, but why not try it?

You know, that's a really good idea that never crossed my mind.
It might be tricky to remove as it's soooo bloomin sticky, but I will take off as much of the paste as I can.
Great thinking Nanuca. Thank YOU.
If I only had a brain . . .
