So i'm now confused lol from what I've seen on this orchid board I thought Cattleya's had psuedobulbs like oncidiums, i was shopping at B BBarns in the discount section, I see this orchid on sale for $8.00 that I think looks like what I've seen the Dendrobiums look like, I purchase it..get out to the car & look at the label, It's a Cattleya- the tag says 'Pot Love Avenue "Serenade".' It's roots are in an ok shape (could have been better yet not mush), & it's growing a new 'psuedobulb'. I googled the name & it's gorgeous!..Please give me tips on growing Cattleyas.
your plant is growing a new lead, how very exciting....go online and search for the 'Baker's" Cattleya culture....that was my guide while caring for my very first Catt
Potinara, is the nothogenus comprising those intergeneric hybrids of orchids which have Brassavola, Cattleya, Laelia and Sophronitis as parent genera. But, due to name changes and reclassifications of species - "Potinara" is no longer used. Your hybrid is now a Rhyncattleanthe.
Dendrobium (Phal type) type light. Allow media to dry, or very nearly so, in-between waterings.
I have him too! I bought mine at Lowes about 6 months ago. Beautiful blooms! I treat him like a Catt....and I guess he likes it because he has new growth and another sheath on it's way!
