why would a phals root turn red?

I moved my orchids outside and after about a day of being out there one of the new roots that a phal was growing tip turned red, some bad weather was coming in so I took the plants back inside and after a couple of days the root turned back to green, why is this?

Some orchids will get red root tips when growing in higher light

Yeah, red often indicates high light in orchids. As long as they are not burning, red is generally not a problem.
