Flushing - a watering question... Male
Default Flushing - a watering question...

I am starting to understand how to better care for my orchid and keep hearing about flushing inorder to remove salt build up and such. Is that just simply bringing it to the sink and letting water run through it? Is there a specified amount of time to let the water run though if this is the case?

Please enlighten me on how you all par take in this activity as well as any other watering techniques you might be able to share.

I have a potted Zygo. if that helps you narrow down which info you which to pass on

Thank You,

Joe

Just bring to sink and run water till it comes out bottom (say a couple minutes.) You beter not have a water softener, though, as the salt in the water will slowly kill your plants.

Yes, flushing it with wate from the sink is just fine. You want to flush thru the salt and mineral build up in our water. So when you are flushing the water thru give it a good long drink. Just stick it in the sink and just let the water flow thru...go do another project for awhile. At the time that you water, you can never over water. You can water that one plant for 20 at one 'sitting' if you wish. Water a good time, al long as you can put up with...5 minutes or little longer. Actually it all depends on how many orchids you have that you'd be doing this to.

Happy Growing!
