I know for many this may be quite a long list, but if you had to choose 1 or 2 at most, which ones would be your absolute must haves?

For me, since I only have room for a handful of orchids, it is:

I found a few vendors online that have it, but NBS so I will have to wait a whole year to see it bloom

I've got a soft spot for yellow callista-type dendrobiums.

And I love all sorts of different specimen plants. I'm definitely leaning towards old, well-established plants rather than cutting and dividing.

I recently found a couple of my "dream orchids" at prices I was willing to pay

... found a propagated back bulb of Cym tracyanum last year at a show. Have to wait a couple more years probably before it might be bloom size, but the cost was more do-able for me tha a bloom sized one

And earlier this month got a Vanda coerulea ... was more than I generally will pay for a plant (finances require me to be quite frugal) - but in line with what I have seen these for, sometimes not even bloom size, and this one was in bud/bloom, and I didn't have to pay shipping
And, I had some cash put aside for something special I just hope I don't kill it!!!

I guess now I would really love the dark cultivar/variety (?) of Cym tracyanum

Let's see... the first I cannot grow, the second I cannot find, the third would probably make my boyfriend decide he'd had enough of both me and my little hobby

Dendrophylax lindenii - the Florida ghost orchid - so beautiful and spooky!

Caleana major - the so-called 'flying duck' orchid from Australia.

Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis - also love this one because it's weird. But i hear it's quite stinky - a bit of an issue when you grow your orchids in the living room of a small shared apartment.

On my wish list are
dendrobium spectabile (I already have but I want it to bloom)
And
...this may sound very very crazy...
The genetically modified blue orchid.
I know probably the worst thing that came out but I saw pix of it and I wanted it then and now.

OK, if I could only have two they would be Dendrobium kingianum and Encyclia Reese Grazaffi for ease of growth, winter bloom, and incredible fragrance.

That said, I haven't met too many orchids I didn't like, and thank goodness I have room for more than two!
