Forum Question - Orchid Board

I'm not completely sure if this belongs here so if it doesn't please feel free to move it....

I was wondering if there is a way to bookmark a thread for future reference? I've looked...and looked...and looked.

What do you do if you want quick access back to an important tid-bit of information you need to read again. I find that it happens to me a lot....but can't find the thread because I've forgotten where it ran off to!

Have you tried Linkback, located right up at the top. I thought that was what (dig this thread) was for.
I never used it but might be worth a try.

I don't know if there's something on the board to do that - but I just bookmark it on my web browser - have a file made for those bookmarks

I think "Linkback" and "Trackback" refer to two different sites (forums?) where you can transfer a link to another forum or vice versa. Thanks though. I'll try creating my own bookmarks. Thanks everyone!

If you are IN a thread, or a page, you should be able to bookmark it while you are there using your web browser. The address at the address bar changes for each page and if you bookmark where you are it should work - maybe give it your own name though so you remember what it is. Have you tried that?

There's also that "follow" feature that emails you every time a thread gets a reply. That can get annoying, depending on the thread.

Being familiar with the search function or google will often get you back to a good thread, but yes, if you want to , you can always bookmark in your web browser or use something like stumbleupon or the like to keep track of them.

When viewing a thread, choose subscribe from the thread tool menu. Then in your control panel, under "Edit Options," you can select how frequently you wish to receive email notifications when the thread is updated: instant, daily, weekly or not at all. You can view your list of subscribed threads at any time by choosing Subscribed Threads from the Quick Links menu. Also, within the list of subscribed threads, you can select threads using a checkbox and then set the options on just those threads.

I do as Jayfar suggests and have the email set to 'No Email'. This means that it auto subscribes me to every thread I post on, but does not send me emails for them.

As well as seeing the list of Subscribed Threads on the Quick Links Menu, the User CP option also shows you the subscribed threads that have had more posts since you last visited the forum. I always take a look at these when I visit before moving on to look at other threads.
