I am planning to get zygopetalum orchid soon. It's very elegant and beautifull, with a very good scent!
Does anyone know something about their care, needs?

Hi Mysticorchid,

I have a Zygo. and it's requirements are pretty easy. It likes a cool to intermediate conditions. It should be fed with a balanced fed once a week - weakly. It doesn't like too much bright sunlight, afternoon direct sun is fine though. Never let it get dry before watering again, it likes to be dryish though. That's all I can think off for now. Good luck.

I have one in S/H and it seems to like it. I keep it in a west facing window behind a net curtain in my standard house temps.

It started off in a poor way, but it's been growing well the last few years so I think it must be happy now.

I'll add that warmer months should be wetter than the cooler months, but the orchid should receive water year round.

Also, don't get water into the new shoots, it increases the odds that the water will sit in the recesses and rot them out.

Agreed about the water on the new shoots. It rots really easily. That's why mine was in a bad condition, it rotted right back to just a single rootless/leafless bulb.
