Thanks for the replies, guys
There is a tree outside of the window - it's not too little light, but it's enough to dapple the intensity of the light and it's protected from the intensity, which is nice. I am starting to think I may do sheer curtains on the rest of the windows anyway just because all of my other plants are burning up from the intensity.
We generally keep the temperature a bit high in our place - there is a 4-5 degree difference between where the thermostat sits and where our vents are, so that area of the house is in the mid-upper 70s.
Including the bathroom. It's actually quite pleasant in there. We have also had the windows open A LOT, so that's good too.
Thanks for the tips on the windows and watering and stuff

your bedroom sounds ideal for Vandas....

Vandas look pretty (still new to this, had to google, lol). Do they take high light/warmth? My phals HATED that window and got all depressed and burned up, so I had to move them. I thought Cattleyas liked more light and then I read that they like higher light but not direct light. So now I guess I need something that can take direct, intense light from about 2 pm to 8 pm in the summer. We just moved so I'm not sure what it's going to be like in the winter.
