Thanks for sharing the pics jeremyinsf. Cool display at the green house and nice plants you picked up.

I have yet to go that far South, would love to hear of some recommendations down that way!

jeremyinsf, where do you buy yours? I'm in the East Bay and am always looking for local orchid vendors.

The SF flower market is a good place to start - there are I think four shops there that only have orchids, and probably 15 places total that sell them. You can find all the basics there for very, very low prices. The place I posted about here is California Orchids... they specialize in boarding but have some stuff for sale, if you know what you are looking for. It's much more of a drive though. I have posted before about Golden Gate... he's mostly a wholesaler, and you'd need to call and talk to him and make an appointment. A place on 6th Ave/Clement in SF has some smaller stuff, and once in a while something unique. They don't specialize though, but I take a peek once in a while.

Thanks for the info. I haven't been to the SF flower market in years (long before I was growing orchids) and I hadn't considered checking them out for live plants. I'll be paying the market a visit as soon as possible.

McLellan Botanical is a big one - this is the small retail outfit for a very large nursery down south. They produce a lot of the orchids we see at the big box stores here in the Bay Area. Very nice people. Right next door is Orchidholic (yes, that's the real name) that has quite a few things as well. Across the parking lot is another one that the name isn't coming to me. Then many (if not most) of the other places have them as well, even if that's not 'all they do'.

Have fun!
