I was looking around my living room last night and realised only 1 out of 6 flowering phals was staked, and of a further 5 with spikes none were staked. I hadn't realised how little I stake them these days, but basically if it looks like it will be OK without then I leave it.

I like them both ways but I tend to stake mine up to save room. I dont have the room for a 24" spike of flowers to whip around the room without getting broken.

Phal Sogo Yukidian V3 staked bec it had to be as its spike is over 2 ft long and weighs quite a bit.. Its really up to you and the plant on whether to stake or not to stake...

where as these smaller phals dont need stakes
