Root Rot - Can phal still survive?? Female

Sem - Thanks for asking! While that orchid is still alive, I have very little hope for it. The rest of the roots rotted. It starts a new root and then aborts it. It's sitting on my windowsill at my kitchen sink in the hopes that the humidity and light will eventually help it to grow. I won't get rid of it till its brown.

However, I used the same technique for another tiny phal and I'm happy to report that it is doing well and has 5 new roots growing! Hoping to get a new leaf started soon!

I do wonder about my use of KLN though. I was instructed to use it separately from my fertilizer, so I usually switch weeks - one week fertilizer, one week KLN. Is this a good regime or should I try something else? I think once I'm done with this bottle of KLN I'm going to give seaweed a try as I'm not really have the results I'd like with KLN.

from what I understand its not worthwhile to fertilize if you have no roots as the plants can't absorb it without roots. soaking the base in seaweed is supposed to help. I have brought phals back from no roots (one still only has one root but despite my best efforts it seems to think that one is enough as its growing leaves) I have 2 seedling Catting in orchid ICU both with pretty much no root so I'm not sure about them making it but my fingers are crossed.
