Default Im so proud of myself!!!

I have been meaning to post a picture for a while, but haven't gotten around to it. Last fall I was worried that I wasn't going to get any flowers. ALL of them except one phal and my baby paph flowered. The ones that are on the gravel tray are my old ones that I got to re-bloom, while the other two I bought in bloom.
IM SO HAPPY

Now to find more orchids Also, ive been throwing around the idea to switch to S/H. I have been doing research and it looks like a low maintenance and almost foolproof way to keep orchids going. I want to give it a try but am worried I will kill my babies. I'm way too attached lol.

Another side note, sorry for the bad picture quality. It was taken by my phone and the pictures turn out blue with the flash.

And by the way... this is my whole orchid collection as of tonight. I would really like to try a cat and a dendrobium. Cymbidiums are so beautiful but i have heard that they are super difficult here.

On the other side of the coin, never in a million years would I have thought that I would be able to have this much success in orchids. Just ask any of the older generation on this forum how many questions i ask

Glad you find out how easy it is to grow orchids.
I am sure you will have success with Cattleyas and Dendrobiums as well.
Sometimes the potting medium needs to be exchanged, what should be carried out as long as the plant is firm and the roots are healthy.
But stick to the things that have proved to work for you. "Don' change a winning team."

They are all beautiful!

Yes. That was my 30 dollar acquisition . It was a rescue orchid at that too lol. As a rule of thumb I look for the most unusual phals that i can get my hands on. It usually has to jump off a shelf for me to buy it, unless of course someone is giving it away

What a nice collection and very well grown.
You know you're on the right track when they rebloom.

Nice job!

For me S/H ended up being more work because I had to water more often. In areas of high humidity I'm sure it's great. Where I live the RH is so low the top 2/3rds or the pots were always too dry.

Nice collection. I'm not sure why you would have a problem with growing cyms there. They are supper easy if you put them outside in bright dappled or morning sunshine for the summer and leave them out until towards the end of October. Protect them from frost, though they can stand a little. Bring them in and they will usual bloom in the winter.
