Default Phal Blooms Dropping All At Once

Hi all,

I have a Phal that has been in bloom for a few months now. It has just finished growing a leaf. It is currently growing several aerial roots. The roots in the pot all look good. Last year, this orchid dropped its blooms one at a time (which most of mine seem to do). However, today I checked on it and all of the blooms are shriveled up. There appears to be no damage or insects of any kind anywhere on this plant, or on Phals around it.

I am wondering if this is normal or if I should check for bacteria/fungus/other problem indicators?

Thanks!

If everything else looks fine, I don't think it's anything to worry about.

If the plant is growing new leaves and the roots look ok, I guess it was just...done. Just like that.

Could of course be environmental changes it didn't like. Maybe a temperature swing or something else that could have (in a bud phase) triggered bud blast, and that in a flowering situation just makes the plant drop the blossoms.

I've got phals that take forever shedding their flowers one at the time, and others that just get it over and done with in a few days.

Agreed, sometimes mine do this, other times they drop one at a time. No pattern and the same orchid can do it differently each time.
