ok ... I still feel that unless you are in the desert, humidity is fine without misting (31% currently here, frequently lower)- but, if it's not causing harm, no reason not to continue

I don't think that previous strong (or too much light) should affect foliage coming in since light has been reduced ...

It's the opposite. The light in our old place was less strong than the light here.

They were up there for about three or four days until I really noticed what was happening. That might have been enough time since the light has been so intense and it has progressively gotten wicked hot.

I have a Phal that naturally has dark edges (and underside of foliage), the dark edges have become much more noticeable since I've been growing it in higher light, and the general foliage color has becom a much lighter green, so, it could be that's what's happened, at least regarding your dark edges in new foliage ...

I have posted this same thing recently.
Basically, it is a mystery.

can't say "it is not a problem" when the cause for this yellow rim is not known unless someone studied it and came up with some kind of decent explanation.

With that said, I do not think it is light damage or heat damage at all.

Here's why.
I posted about one phal that's the worst but upon closer examination, I found out that a few others also had yellow rim.

None of those are getting high light.

Other phals growing under the same condition is not showing this yellow rim.

Plants overall do not seem to be negatively affected.

I'm having the exact same problem recently. Some of the orchids on my west facing window started having this problem recently since the weather became hot and temperatures have gone up. I have now moved all those orchids to another area of my house where they dont get direct sunlight

Which orchids? Phalaenopsis are low-light plants that do not need sun shining on their leaves. They burn easily when that happens.

Also, note this is a very old thread. Most of the people posting here are no longer active.
