Default Flasks with mold

So...I nurtured some NOID Phal seeds through to pseudobulb stage, and they were waaaay too crowded.
I decided to re-plate, and try the clear plastic 16oz deli containers. Long story short, they went moldy within a week.
Most of the advice i was seeing was just to garbage them, and try again.
As a last resort i'm trying a treatment. Its a mixture of Cinnamon, and an anti-fungal product for aquariums called Pimafix, made from Indian Bay trees.
We'll see how it goes.....it cant hurt if I was going to lose them anyway

You can always deflask them and see how they fare in the real world. How big are they?

your experience ties in to what I have been told - its not so much the germination part that is finicky as regards sterile conditions, its the replate stage where its difficult to obtain sterile conditions without a laminar hood.

You could try the vapour sterilisation method when replating. See here:

http://www.orchidboard.com/community...seedlings.html

I've just done my second replate for my Bulbophyllum orectopetalum seedlings. You just adjust it to 2-2.5 hours instead of the 4.5-5 for seed sterilisation.

I didn't get any contamination on the first replate. I only did the second two days ago, so maybe too early to tell but it looks good so far.

It's worth a try anyway. Just use newly opened bleach. If it's been open for a while the chlorine starts to dissipate and this is what you're relying on to kill the contamination so it needs to be fresh.
