Glad you find it useful! I like the look of them too but am faced with highland climate issues. Thankfully I have accounted for most of those issues that now allow me to mount phials. Most of my phals grow in sh but these warm growing phals never do well for me in sh because its too cold for them. So I'm trying this method instead.

In a pot the roots are always covered by the moss. In a mount, even one such as this where there is a lot of moss will at some point in time bcome accustomed to less and less moss over time as the moss descintegrates (now all of a sudden I can't spell). I like the horizontal approach to mounting phals. I had great success last year with two that were planted and hung this way. That is until they got a bad disease and died within two days. Pilot, I think that as these become accustomed to the mount as it decintegrates I think it will be ok. Because it is so dry you can water every day and that means you can fertilize more often too. Although you might want to dilute the fertilizer more. I think this looks nice.
