PS- Goota ask,, what kind is it and is it as easy to care for as Phal's?
I believe LC is a kind of Cattleya, and I don't take care of any of those so I don't know. All I know about them is that they need more light than Phals.

Cintirella,

This is something in the Cattleya alliance, but I can't say exactly what the genus is. I've so far found ones in the Cattleya alliance reasonably easy, they can often need more light, however I only have a couple so can't really advice much more.

I have seen Catts in little baggies at Lowes, if you're still new and don't want to dump a bunch of $$$ into them. I've only done rescue Phals at the moment but I've only been in the hobby for a couple months.

I missed the tag LC is Laliocattleya, it's a cross between Cattleya and Laelia. Since my Laelia has at various points been classified as a Catt the difference between them is not massive and the intergeneric genus of LC is often found.

Yes, it's a cattleya - seems to be a cross between 3 of them, but I don't know which is the (presumably unregisterd cross) and which is the other parent - it is either:

Laeliocattleya 'Mari's Song' x [Potinara 'Love Call' x Potinara 'Jenner Gold']

or

[Laeliocattleya 'Mari's Song' x Potinara 'Love Call'] x Potinara 'Jenner Gold'

It's possible this is a registered cross, but without knowing which way round it is, it seems pointless to search

Also, the intergeneric name may be incorrect depending on what is in the background of these crosses (given the shuffling in and out of Laelia particularly).

Is it small naturally (i.e. Mini Phal ? )- do they have babies like Keikis?

This does look like a mini (or more likely a midi, as the minis I've see are much smaller!) catt, which have been bred to be fairly compact; some cattleyas are quite large beasts.

Cattleyas are usually referred to according to their plant sizes. These are the categories and criteria that are used :
Micro-Mini : under 4 inches in height
Mini : 4 inches to 8 inches in height
Compact : 8 inches to 12 inches in height
Standard : over 12 up to 24 inches in height
Catts don't really go in for keikis, but being sympodial (unlike phals which are monopodial) they are quite happy to be split and will often resprout from a dormant eye on a division without a "lead" (but you're better off trying to have active growth in each division); as with most sympodial orchids, you want at least 3 pseudobulbs per division ideally. This is actually much easier in many ways that keikis, which don't always form naturally.

If you're interested in this group, the AOS has a whole series on them available from Cattleyas for the Beginner, part 1 (see the nav links on the left for the others in the series).
