The basics I have read are they like to be moist, sit in a windowsill with moderate indirect sunlight. Any help would be appreciated. This is something I would really like to get in to and have more than one Orchid at some point but I want to do it right and know what I am doing so I dont kill the plants. Thanks!!!

There is a sticky thread here at the top of the beginner page called "The Phal Abuse Ends Here" that will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know. Get a good drink and a few hours, because it's long and takes a while to get through. That said, it's extremely informational and comprehensive, and it will teach you way more than you even thought you wanted to know.
They don't like to be too moist, though, btw. They like to dry out between waterings. The moss is likely too tight (as happens a lot with most Big Box stores phals), and you may end up with a few dead roots. No biggie. If you read the sticky thread, you will learn what to do with it.
Happy Mother's Day! Welcome to orchids!
