I think Catts look kind of ratty on their best days. If you found a bug I would treat the whole batch and keep them isolated from the rest of your plants. Bayer 3 in 1 should do the trick on most creepy crawlies.

The bug sounds like a red spider mite. They're bad news, you should keep the new plants isolated and treat them with a systemic for a full application cycle (2 or 3 applications) before letting them join your other plants.

Check to make sure it is mites. You need a pesticide that says it is a miticide to treat them.

3 & 1 has imaclopitrid as it's active ingredient, which I believe is effective in mites.

If I got plants looking like those in the pictures, I would have been quite unhappy.

I don't see any mechanical damage related to shipping, which also is a problem on seller's part if present with a rare exception of some terrible shipping accidents which never happened to me.
Rather, I see some pictures showing leaves heavily infested with bugs and some showing uncomfortable marks.

Also, catts with most of pbs wrinkled are terrible.
Sure, some old ones can do that, but the fact that almost all of them look like that, well, makes me question the way they were grown at the farm.

I have visited a few orchids farms. I have not seen cattleyas with most of its older pbs wrinkled up like that.

The worst I got were a couple of scales hidden inside dry sheath and those annoying tiny snails.
and these were something I noticed much later after lots of observation. They all looked perfectly healthy at first.

So I like to buy what I can see and examine before buying. like visitng farms and picking out what I like or on ebay sellers with good detailed pictures and good reviews.
