Mother with New Spike?

I can't tell off the bat if the first picture is root. It's too small to tell. And from where it is coming out off, spikes usually come out of that. So unless there is update, I am going to make an assumption that it is a spike.

In terms of the keikis, did you induce the growth of keiki's with a paste by any chance? Great job, two new additions to your collection!
