Macodes petola emergency!!!

Hello, I just registered yesterday with hopes of receiving some advice about what to do about my petola (so if I am putting this in the wrong thread category I am terribly sorry).

A couple of months ago I purchased a macodes petola and transferred it to a glass bowl with the sphagnum moss medium it came in. It was perfectly healthy until a couple of weeks ago, when I noticed two of the leaves had turned brown. I removed the brown leaves, but it unfortunately seems as if I have nicked and broken the stalk (what is the proper word?). Now there is just one big green leaf left; I checked the roots and they are perfectly healthy. Will more leaves grow from the roots if I continue taking care of it as usual? And is there anything I can do about the severed stalk?

What are the conditions you are giving it? Not that I'm an expert on jewel orchids.

Macodes petola, one of many jewel orchids, is a very unique member of the orchid family. I got this in my collection not so much for the flower as much as the foliage….not impossible to keep alive…. this plant needs very high humidity..…In winter this stays in my bathroom with good airflow and indirect sun ….I place it on my east facing kitchen window(slightly open) where it can get some of the natural humidity from outside during the summer….place some stones in your saucer of water(humidity tray)to create a buffer so that excess water that collects in the saucer can evaporate and provide humidity without running the risk of rotting the roots. Do not allow the sphagnum moss that your orchid is planted in to dry out completely; it needs to be kept evenly moist at all times. Regarding light requirements, be sure that your Macodes is never kept in a spot where it will get direct sunlight. Indirect sunlight is good, but direct sun will burn the foliage. The leaves are delicate and in fact they are much more sensitive than other more sturdy orchids (phalaenopsis, oncidiums, cattleyas,etc.)…. give it fertilizer “weakly weekly” as you would your other orchids this time of year.
Your leaves dropped because the plant used the energy to survive. Check the roots if it is rotting spray it with hydrogen peroxide ….and refresh your moss it might be decaying

I don't use sphagnum moss but I mixed orchid seedling sized Phal media mix and 50% potting soil....I water it once a week but I have a humidifier with oscillating fan....
