Rooting Phals
Default Rooting Phals

Hello, I have a few phals and for the life of me they wont send out new roots. The old roots are green and fine but all of them no longer have the green tip. Could I do something to induce rooting?

My favorite rooting compound is Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed. I use it twice a month during the spring and summer.

How long has it been since there has been root growth? I have a couple Phals that don't seem to do anything grow-wise over winter, but started new growth (roots and foliage) a few weeks ago. Existing roots also get new grow tips.

This is the time of year for roots to be starting, over the winter you don't really get many. Some of mine haven't got going yet but others are starting to show signs of roots.

Anyway, a seaweed mix can help if you can find a good one. Ray's Kelpmax product is meant to be good (I have to use a different one here in Europe but you won't be able to get that there).

Also watering with luke warm water rather than cold water can help.
