Phal. Green Tetra sunburned? Female
Default Phal. Green Tetra sunburned?

This Phal. Green Tetra is a newer acquisition. I am new to growing species phals.

I noticed the leaves look a little off color. I have it on a SE windowsill. Does it look like it is getting too much light and getting sunburned?

That lower leaf could just be dying off naturally. Tho others may have different ideas .

This is a hybrid.

I always check OrchidWiz for hybrids........
According to them this hybrid prefers 87% shaded conditions and I would think an unshaded SE window would be too bright. I am not sure whether you have the plant direct on the windowsill but generally speaking the plant should at least be a foot from the window.
I see this is registered by Big Leaf Orchids. You could always shoot Peter an e-mail and double-check with him.
Actually this may be Tetra Green and not Green Tetra ?

Thank you. I did have it right on the window sill. Just moved it. The tag says, Phal. Green Tetra (Phal. Tetraspis 'Falling Stars' x Phal. Green Jewel 'Ken's Classic'). If I had looked at the tag I would have realized it was a hybrid, duh on my part. I bought it from Carter & Holmes.
Thanks for the advice

its registered as Tetra Green - with those parents. Just confirmed in OrchidWiz.
If you want to know parentage, you can also check this site

The International Orchid Register / RHS Gardening
