Default Hes in bad shape :(

Hey everyone! Last week I posted a topic about my phal that ha few roots. I took the advise and soaked the roots in hydro parox 3%, and sprinkled with freshly ground cinnamon. Since then there are still about 3 blooms that are hanging in there, however the leafs are feeling soft, and starting to wrinkle. They also just flop around, not as stiff as my first phal. What should I do to save this guy before it gets worse? Water therapy? Should I cut the steam at the base so that energy is directed towards root growth and healing? I have attached a pic below. I hope soon that we will be able to upload video! thanks everyone

Just leave it be. Water it when it needs it. Sometimes doing less is more.

If it were mine I would cut off the spike to redirect that energy.

Cut the spike off. Pot it up in the smallest pot possible in sphagnum moss wrung dry and place it in a low light warm place. Mist the moss, not the plant, when the moss dries out, most likely daily.

Sometimes we can save them; sometimes we can't. We can just try our best.

I didn't follow the thread where you got advice, but just to check, you didn't sprinkle all the roots with cinnamon? It should be dabbed on cut root ends only, since it's a strong dessicant.

I would also remove that spike. But if you put it in some water you can still enjoy the blooms a bit longer.

I would unpot it and wash the cinnamon off. Cinnamon has a strong drying effect (have you ever put some on your tongue?), so it can be detrimental to roots if sprinkled liberally over them. Usually the powder is used to 'seal' only the cut ends of roots (and also cut spikes and leaves) to prevent secondary infections.

The best place to put the plant is somewhere warm and not too bright (certainly no direct sun). Lightly misting the surface of the media daily also seem to help promote new root growth. Watering with seaweed extract should also help boost root growth.

It's not unusual for foliage to do this when there are few, if any, good roots.

I keep cinnamon away from roots altogether. If I have cut dead roots, they're already dead, and there's no benefit to putting cinnamon on the cuts, and too easy to get the cinnamon on good roots in the process.

I feel for you - when I was new to the board, someone was always advising dusting roots with cinnamon, and so I did it on one plant ... fortunately, the plant survived, but it was a seedling, and I'm sure that set it back ...

Camille's advice is good!

Thank you for your reply! Yes I followed Camilles advice! I left this little bugger resting on my bookshelf away from any direct natural or artifical light. Hope it works

I would 1) cut the spike, 2) report because it looks like the crown is too deep into the bark, 3) place in a warm well-lit area, 4) mist the leaves daily and water once a week, and 5) sing Maxwell's This Woman's Work each morning.

That should do it.
