Hey guys!
All the orchids I have are phals and I was wondering if I should cut the stalk after all the blooms are all wilted and gone or leave it?

Thanks!

Depends on a case by case situation if the phal is strong and healthy then let them re bloom otherwise cut the spike off note that reboot from an old spike can take 2 - 3 months or more so don't expect it to be a quick process hence most growers never allow 're bloom

Cut, cut, cut!

No, I'm joking. Whether you cut the spikes or not is entirely up to you and all about personal preferences. I'm a cutter. BUT, if you leave the spikes on, they might continue to flower in a while, shooting new buds from the green growth tips at the end, or maybe branch out from the nodes on the spike. I think a live phal spike can go on for ages doing this.

When I say cut, it's because I personally prefer to give the plant a bit of a rest to focus on leaves and roots before it begin growing a brand new spike. I just like the appearance of new spikes more than these (often) lanky, long old spikes. But it's entirely up to you what you want to do.

If the spike starts to dry up then cut it off, it won't do any more.

If it stays green then it's up to you. Personally I like to cut them, I think you get a better display of blooms from a new spike rather than off an old one. Added to that the plant is more compact while you wait for it to be ready to flower again. But it's a matter of personal preference.

If it's dried and dead. Cut.
If it's green... up to you.
I don't cut normally.
It's a great way to get an off season blooming display.
If the spike hasn't done anything by the end of summer I cut it off.
I don't mind a re bloom during the off season. But I don't want it redirecting energy to a less spectacular display during the actual blooming season.

I personally have never noticed a slowing in the production of roots and leaves during a re bloom.
