To the poster of the wild Ghost Orchid Buds & Flowers:

I would be very curious to know the afternoon temperature at the bud point & the root mass of those Ghost Orchids in the wild. Also a light meter reading at the noon...if you go back for a visit, I would be most curious!

I agree. that is a very nice set-up indeed and they all look healthy.

I would like a set-up like that - I think most would.

Is there someplace that sells the smaller fans you have with the adaptors to run off the standard wall plugs? My fan eats a little too much energy and converts it into a little too much heat for my liking.

Thanks took a bit and got lucky with people moving and having things laying around the house.

anyhow, my fans are actually huge compared to many of the other set ups I've seen. I found these in my storage shed they are about 7 years old but I've never used them so they are new old fans...

they are 5"x5" I run them off an old 12v charger cable the fans themselves have 3 settings Slow, Medium or Fast.. I have them on medium

. It is really easy to do this.. all you need is

Fans as many as you want
a cable that has a converter
electrical tape and a way to cut the wire..

Here is a video that helped me out exactly on how to wire them.. hope it helps.

by the way.. i didnt cut the wire i spliced it in so i could use the fan hook up to plug in the other fan... if that makes sense....

Aaron I didn't see your request for temps and such. I don't really carry any instruments with me. But the next time I go I will try and compile some temps and times for you. I did go yesterday and found many plants from first year seedling, to specimens size plants. The temp. in the glades yesterday was Mid 80's in the area they grow. I posted pictures in the Wild Orchid thread.

20 MAY 2013:

Here it is, it has begun to open and I expect in a day or two will be in full glory.

Default Cork

It is mounted on cork 18" by 8".

A dangerous medium if the humidity drops off, but excellent with high humidity.

I am eager to see it open and complete - I have read what the scent is like, and can't wait to actually sense it for myself.

We both are excited - as this is my engagement gift to her.
