awesome! Just so happens that your plant is flowering at the same time they flower in the wild. I have found beginning spikes in Dec. 1/2 in. or so. and it didn't flower until May/June.
|
It is coincidence. I could have had it bloom late last year or later this year - but I am getting married in June, and this is my engagement gift to her. I had thought about blooming it in December to cool the winter blues, but then the reason I started growing it would have been for not.
I am interested to see the difference in the two spikes I have. One is 15 months old. The other is just 4 months old, I wonder if there will be a difference in the flowers? It looks cool though, one being a 4" spike and the other close to 16" now. One will be a real ghost hanging off in the distance and the other will be close to the root cluster, an excellent contrast I think. |

Very cool, they need to plump up a little. I think your right about a June flower. The legs of the flower are still developing. I found a couple bud photos to compare.

You have 30+ Ghost Orchid blooms? That is incredible...

noooo I wish, hahaa, out of the ones i deflasked earlier, thats how many i have left they are a long ways from mature.
I was just saying that the CO2 levels helped them get through the first steps after deflasking. But no, I would love to have 1 blooming now. |
Wow. I haven't visited orchidboard in a while, but saw this thread and had to comment. This is quite the achievement. I look forward to seeing the results of your hard work on this thread!!

I do updates every Tuesday Night with new photos of the bud to show it's progressive development.
Within the last week it has taken on quite a bit of mass. |
