I can't shell out $65 for an orchid right now, but wow! Just look at that color!

That's all I have to say. I just thought somebody here might appreciate it. :-)

Beautiful! Wish I had enough light to grow vandas, though I'm not sure I would pay so much for one plant.

Pachara Delight is one of my favorite vandas. Be careful about judging the color though. Blue/purple vandas often look more blue on a computer screen than they actually are. Pachara Delight is more purple in real life, but it's a wonderful orchid.

Yeah, I'm starting to realize that Orchids Limited is relatively expensive, even compared to similar vendors. That's too bad because I'm within driving distance of their greenhouse, and the people who work there are really nice and helpful.

I drove out there to get supplies for re-potting my first grocery store Phal, and one of the guys spent like 30 minutes talking to me about orchid care. He even showed me a few of their plants, one that needed to be watered and one that didn't, and had me pick them up (for weight), examine them, and stick my fingers in the moss to learn the difference. A+ service. The plants were also astoundingly lush and beautiful.

I plan to give them more business, but I wish their prices were more competitive.

Hmm, thank you for the information about blues. I will remember that, and maybe try to calibrate my monitor with an eye towards blue and purple.

All orchids and orchid vendors are not created equal. Sometimes shopping for the lowest price can lead you to poor quality plants. When I find a vendor with top quality orchids, I don't mind paying a little more.

Good point! Do you have any recomondations for online vendors?

There's also something to be said for supporting local and family businesses. It's something I try to make a priority.

You also save on shipping, don't have to wait, and get to see the plant before you buy for it. I think all of that is worth a bit of extra cost.

I don't feel too comfortable recommending specific online vendors. I've had good experiences with many of them but other forum members said they didn't like some of the same vendors. You said you had a vendor near you and the people were nice and helpful but the orchids were more expensive. My point was, if you think it's a good nursery and the plants look healthy to you, it might be worth a little extra money to be able to pick out your own healthy looking plant in person. You have more control over what you buy and you don't pay shipping.

I looked at the web-site of Orchids Limited yesterday and I see what you mean about price. Their prices aren't just a little higher than other vendors, they're much higher than the same orchids from other vendors. I see why you would prefer to buy elsewhere.
