Are you taking the pictures with your phone? That used to happen to me with my old phone. If you're holding your phone horizontally to take the picture, then the file will end up rotated like that. It will look correct on your phone, but not on the computer. This is because the phone "knows" the correct rotation and will show you the picture right-side-up, but the actual file will still be sideways.
To fix it, just go into an image editing program and auto-rotate the whole batch of pictures after you upload them onto the computer.
You can also fix the rotation directly on your phone. Select the picture and then tell it to rotate 90 degrees clockwise and then save it.
