Eek! My fiance turned off the heat!

What the subject says. =( My fiance turned off the heat on Saturday, and apparently never turned it back on. It was nice over the weekend so I didn't notice, but this morning I woke up and it was 63 degrees in my house! Probably lower over by the window where the orchids live. =( Their leaves were very cold and the only orchid that had flowers ...its flowers were droopy and sad looking.

I immediately turned on the heat and opened the vents, but I am afraid it may have hurt the orchids. Is there anything I can do to check whether or not they are okay? They weren't discolored or anything, just cold and droopy flowers. No leaves drooping/curling, being sad..they're perky and happy...but... Is there anything else I should do besides having turned the heat back on? Is there anything I can do from now on to ensure this doesn't happen again (besides being paranoid and checking my thermostat from now on O_O)?
