Nope sorry, it's 100% the same plant. I don't have so many that I can't keep track. It has the same three markings on the leaf, it's in the same pot (well not anymore as I switched them to terracotta) there is no way this is a different plant, this has been discussed many times in this thread. I know 100%.

Well you have the only plant on the planet that has changed like this. I know it's been mentioned, I just don't believe it.

Show me another example of any Phal anywhere in the world where this has happened (other than blue ones which are dyed) and I will become a believer.

I am more than happy to admit when I am wrong but I've never seen it before and I've been growing a long time. Happy to be proven wrong.

And I think Bolero might even feel better about the whole thing if he was proven wrong.
Im looking at the white flower and then a purple flower and I too think thats not possible. A hybrid seed will produce flowers of different colors from each plant. Each seed can produce a color unlike the next seed or a copy. A hybrid doesnt change its spots from one blooming to another. Youve commited yourself to being absolutely positively assured this is the same plant. So really its the end of this discussion as no one is going to convince you that you are wrong. Sorry its just science and your plant doesnt relate to science, more like science fiction to me

I really would feel better if I were proven wrong. I don't like telling people that I doubt what they are saying, I am not trying to criticise anyone.

But i really don't think it's possible.

Is there any way that pink/purple dye could be getting in there? (Maybe a mischievous younger sibling/significant other?) It does look pretty similar, and the coloring seems to follow veins...

Its not just color thats different, but the petal and tongue is different, which leads me to being a doubter as well. Was the husband asked if he accidentally knocked it down and replaced it??

OK I feel like a 1st grader here, but I'm unsubscribing from my own thread. I have 5 phal. right now. I lost two over the last two years one was pink, the other was yellow, both mini blooms.
I don't know how else to explain this. It is the same plant period. I know my plants. There is no way this could be confused with another. My husband is very honest and would tell me he knocked one over, and wouldn't be dumb enough to replace it without asking me what I would want it replaced with, he would replace it with something more exotic then a grocery store phal. He knows better then that. The damage on the leaf is the same as it was when it was white. I have never seen this kind of leaf damage before, so it's the same plant. It was in the same pot in the same spot on the windowsill as it has been for over 3 years. I take photos of every plant I buy the first day or two I buy it, whether it's an indoor plant or an outdoor plant. I keep photo records of them all as they grow. As I said in other posts, I really don't like this color, I would NEVER have bought it. The other phals I have are pink, a dark magenta, another pinkish blush and a mini flowering really light blush that has some yellowish tones. They all bloomed together, none are white, or anywhere near the size of this one. The is NO way they could be mixed up. I first thought it was the jacks fert since it is the exact same color and yes, like others have said, and I have said the coloring seems to follow the veins, it also has colored the leaves slightly, where they were more green before, now the tips are that same purpleish color. But I have flushed it a lot and the second spike isn't faded as I thought it would get with flushing the fert out. I have no other way of saying it. I know you guys don't believe me, but aside from everything I've said about it being the same plant I don't think I can change anyone else's mind, unless the damn thing flowers white next spring.

But I'm basically done with this thread. I know what I know. I know my plants. I'm now sorry I brought it up to begin with.

Aw! Hang in there. I believe you! (And I bet most people also do, they're just not very vocal about it)

I am glad you brought this up because this is interesting. I do blame the Jacks stuff. Sorry you're getting a hard time about it. Good luck!

I also believe you, not that I know how or why this plant can do this. I know most on here are much more knowledgeable than I and so they have never heard of it, but strange things happen.

And while I was reading this thread I was thinking the whole time while I can understand that people that have been growing orchids for so many years do know there stuff. I was thinking I would know if it was the same plant because I like you don't have that many to get them mixed up.

But I would sure as heck would know if someone had put a new plant with my others. So yes I do believe you, I like the color but I hope it goes back to white next year. So please when it blooms next year let us know.
