Surprised didn't know had a hidden stem
Red face Surprised didn't know had a hidden stem

I had no idea, this Orchid had a 2nd stem ( at the bottom ) When I open the Jacket sleeve the tip broke off flowers and all BUT, a new stem came out of the broken one. And now has 3 flowers about to bloom. here's my question: When it's done with the flowers, Should I cut that CURLED stem? or leave it? Thanks in advance.

Cool!

I wouldn't think that spike is likely to do anything more after these blooms - but, I'm certainly no expert on Phals ...

I would cut it at the base so your plant will focus its energy on growing new leaves and roots so it can flower better next time.

You are very fortunate - whenever I break a Phal spike it withers away.

I'm the opposite.
I would enjoy the blooms and cut the stern after they fade.
As long as it's in good condition this booming don't have much bearing on next year's blooming.
