I think pretty looking tablecloths will make for great curtain where there are no plants.

Yeah, there are more than I could imagine. and some are not so pretty but some people have very different taste to say the least.
This is true. I will be sure to set up sheer curtains at our new place for during the day. I will probably get some thick ones to block out the cold and prevent people from seeing into the apartment at night (Ground level sucks ) and it will be a nice balance. ^__^ Does this mean that the thin metal blinds that we have right now are too thick? You can't see through them but they definitely let a lot of light in even when they're down. To the point that when they're down the orchids still occasionally get brown/black/purple tinging around their leaves. (I took a pic cuz now I'm paranoid...keep in mind that it's cloudy today and also late in the day - and yes, the bottom blinds stay open all the time because our cats need entertainment, and birds and squirrels provide that. xD)

Yep, that blind is what I have but don't use as it blocks out the light, like out out as seen in your photo.

My sheer curtain looks like a fine fishnet.
LILL Sheer curtains, 1 pair - IKEA

So the product name is Lill and they still carry them. and they are even cheaper now at 4.99!!!

That's what I currently use. I still have left over from last use and will use it for additional layer as some of my orchids looked a bit cooked. lol

I don't think it blocks the light out out, I just think it's because it's cloudy and late in the day...it's extremely bright over there and if I open the blinds the orchids get black lines around their leaves and the young leaves turn almost entirely black, so I try not to do that. They even get black lines around their leaves over there like that. It's extremely sunny ...you know, when there's actual sun. But when we move and the window faces west instead of south, I will move them to the sheer like what you showed. The cool part is there's an IKEA right here where I live I can just run down there. Huzzah! Thanks for your help!

Oh, great!
You're welcome!

Now I want to go to IKEA and get some of their Swedish meatball and the potato patty stuff that I love. It's been a while.

Be careful. Unless you like to eat horse. And if you do, then by all means. xD I kind of want to go there just to see what spring-y stuff they have..I'm all about bright colors, much to my other half's dismay..mwahahahaha. I've never eaten their meatballs. And I've only been in the store once.

Why, is IKEA meatball made of horse meat??
They taste so good though!

I have been to IKEA so many times in a few different countries. I like bright colors too. Swedes love their colors!

Back in February they found horse meat in European meatballs:http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/26/wo...anted=all&_r=0

But it didn't affect the United States, so I assume we're good, lol. They're also putting them back on the market in Europe, so they must be horse free now.

Are you Swede? Or just a fan of bright? I lived in the midwest..well, Colorado, so I guess west, for two years and I got accustomed to bright and cheery. And then I moved back here to the east coast where the traditional colors are grey, brown and black. It's so dreary. No wonder we're all so grumpy and drive horrendously.

I have never eaten horse, and the fact that I grew up around them and owned several leads me to believe that I will never eat horse, so I can't say one way or another what it tastes like...but yes, I would hope not to buy beef and have it be horse, lol.

I can testify, though, that kangaroo is quite delicious (6 months down under, yay) and so is mountain lion. Oddly, they make wicked burgers.

Oh, I must have missed that news. but some people somewhere eat horse meat I heard. I assume they must be expensive, maybe not.

No, I'm not Swede, but I love Scandinavian Culture and all my best friends are Scandinavian from three countries (Sweden, Denmark and Norway).
They love colorful stuff. I wear colorful stuff and even in NYC, I sometimes get a look,,,well,,,mostly from visitors not New Yorkers. lol

Yeah, everyone seems to wear black in winter here in the east coast. I like black and all, but some bright element every now and then won't hurt, right?
