i think my orchid is dying. i
I have no clue what kind of orchid it is. It had purple and white flowers. Recently the leaves on bottom have turned yellow and 3 of the 5 have fallen off. The blooms have died and fallen off as well. What's wrong with my orchid?! It was soo pretty! It is still in the original pot it was bought in *from Walmart* I want to keep her alive! HELP!

It is most likely a phalaenopsis. Older, lower leaves naturally fall off but not that many at a time. Did it get a temperature shock if you carried it to the car? It may need repotted. Is it in a clear inner pot set inside a ceramic outer pot? Can you tell what the roots are like? Usually orchids from Walmart are in terrible condition, more so than Lowes. We need a little more information and maybe some pictures.

I am unsure how to post pictures here. But it for a little over a month and I had only watered it very little in that time due to the fact the soil still felt moist. ti is in just a small ceramic pot. nothing inside but I DO have it in another pot that is pretty but I never took it out of the pot it was bought in.

You can post pics after 5 posts.
The answer to your concerns are in the sticky. It is long, but the answer is in there. The sticky is long because it answers a lot of commonly asked questions regarding Phalaenopsis.

here are tips for posting photos. Your plant may be over watered. If you can get some photos of the plant and its roots we can tell you what it is its hard without any photos.

If it didn't dry out or have good airflow around the roots, the roots are likely in terrible shape. I would get it out of the pot and clear off all the bark/moss from the roots, rinse well with water, then see if any are still firm and green. It can sit bareroot in the pot until you find a better situation. Phals, like many other orchids, grow in hot, humid environments, clinging to trees, roots completely exposed to the warm, humid air. They get wet from the rain, dry quickly, then get wet again. The humid air keeps them happy. I grow my phal in red lava rock/net pot but there are many other ways to grow them. They key, I think, is that the medium dries completely, even in the middle and bottom, in four to seven days. I hope this helps you.

Soil? That's not good. Definitely repot it into bark that you have soaked at least overnight or into loosely packed sphagnum moss (not sphagnum peat moss). Also, don't use Miracle-Gro Orchid Potting Mix. I'm not sure what stores you have around but you can get bark or moss at stores like Lowes, Home Depot, Earl May, or a local garden center or nursery.
